We were recently contacted by John Bergman Of Popcorn Park (details below) and we discovered that sadly, Cindy Lou - The cougar that we sent to him some 18 years ago had died.

It was our honor to be involved at the beginning of the "story" and to arrange for Cindy Lou to be flown from Sioux City to Popcorn Park In New Jersey, where she lead a wonderful life.

- Thanks For Everything John!

NEW LOST & FOUND SECTION.

On a regular basis, we receive calls from members of the public who have either lost a pet, or have found an animal that they would prefer to care for themselves until the proper owner comes forward, therefore, we have now added a page to our website detailing any "lost and founds" that have been reported to us. If you have lost an animal that has been reported as found - or found an animal that has been reported as lost, please contact the people concerned directly, the phone numbers or email addresses are listed on our page and the listings will remain live for a few weeks (unless we are told of a successful outcome sooner)

This is a free service provided by Animal Control, for the benefit of citizens - just hit the "Lost & Found" menu button for the listings.

Announcement

It is with great sadness, that we must announce that our Great Dane "Dominique" passed away on Christmas eve.

Dominique was abandoned by her owners and locked into a garage, the door of the garage was then nailed shut.

When we got her, she was painfully thin and neglected - we were told not to expect her to live for more than about 3-4 months, She surpassed everyone's expectations and was with us for nearly 3 years, During which time, she was undoubtedly given more love and affection than she had in the past.

God Bless You Dominique - We Shall Miss You!

Micro-chipping Service

We can microchip any dog that you adopt from us - and the details will be logged with the National Register. This will ensure that your dog is returned to you as quickly as possible if he wanders off, because we routinely scan all dogs which come in to us. The Cost To Microchip Your New Dog Is Just $25.00, Please click the button if you would like more information.

THE 7 DAY HOLD.

A few of our animals are not yet ready to be adopted, the reason for this is that we hold a stray cat or dog for a period of 7 days, to allow the owner sufficient time to retrieve their pet - any animals which are not reclaimed within this period are then put into the adoption program.

The adoption fees vary from $65 for dogs and are fixed at $50 for Cats, this includes their first shots and de-worming. According to State Law, these animals will need to be spayed or neutered as required - it will be your responsibility to arrange this if it's needed.

LIMITED TIME OFFER - THE PRICE FOR CATS AND KITTENS HAS BEEN REDUCED TO $30

We typically tend to be seen by the public as just "dog catchers", but in reality, there is a great deal more to it than that! In addition to the stray or vicious dogs that we deal with, a lot of animals that are at our shelter have been generally abused, beaten and left to go hungry, this is a practice that is inexcusable and totally unacceptable, Please click on the "Read Me" menu button for some very poignant thoughts.

We handle domestic animal abuse, neglect and abandonment, we also deal with wildlife, horses, pigs, ducks, reptiles and any other animal residing within the city limits.  We have even had a bear and cougar, which we placed at Popcorn Park Zoo, Forked River, New Jersey.

Here are pictures of the 2 guys that we sent there:

The cougar, "Cindy Lou"  is now 19 and "Boo Boo" the bear is 13. We would really like to thank John Bergman and his colleagues for doing a wonderful job in looking after the animals that they have there. Please be sure to click the button and check them out!

We speak up for the animals who are unable to speak for themselves, we regularly instigate legal action against the perpetrators of animal cruelty - and try to find the "victims" new loving homes.

"Unfortunately each year, hundreds of animals are euthanized by our facility because of the "irresponsible pet owner".  We have the job of cleaning up, where society has failed. Our shelter is not capable of holding all of the animals we impound and holding them indefinitely.  That is why we hope that this web site will help in the placement of some of these animals"

If you click on this picture of the little boy and his dog, you will be taken to our "wish-list" - we are always extremely grateful for any donations of supplies that people may be able to spare us - Thankyou
